NOW THAT THE SUPER BOWL IS OVER, GRAB A BEER AND GET READY FOR THE WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC

Congrats to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs for winning one of the most entertaining Super Bowls ever. But with spring fast approaching, it’s time to focus on baseball, and fans will get an early treat this year. The World Baseball Classic is back after being postponed in 2021 due to the pandemic, and baseball junkies are excited.

The tournament runs from March 8 -21, and this edition will feature teams from 20 nations, proving that baseball, like futbol soccer, has truly become an international sport. In addition to powerhouse Asian clubs from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, regional squads from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Colombia will clash for bragging rights in a World Cup-type format. And elite MLB stars will be featured on every team. The four host venues will be the Tokyo Dome, Taichung Stadium in Taipei, Loan Depot Stadium in Miami, and Chase Field in Phoenix. Here are the four groups, each that consist of five teams. The top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout round.

Group A Taipei, March 8-12

Cuba, Netherlands, Italy, Panama and Taiwan

Group B, Tokyo, March 9-13

Australia, South Korea, China, Czechia, Japan

Group C, Phoenix, March 11-15

Mexico, Colombia, Great Britain, Canada, United States

Group D, Miami, March 11-15

Dominican Republic, Israel, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico
